Well, what a week it’s been. Another tidy win for the boys with a wonder strike from Khadra against Blackburn, which brought our third win in 4 games. The girls won their third league game in a row with a 2-1 win against Southampton. That win keeps Blues with a slim possibility of promotion and would have to win all their remaining games. Good news about the Stadium repair with added interest of safe standing being part of the developments. I am neutral regarding this concept but if it stops people standing up in regular seating areas then so be it.
I am not so happy about the deduction of points for Reading, our opponents on Good Friday. Firstly the EFL are bringing their own League into disrepute, Its nasty and untidy way to treat your own members. Transfer bans, financial punishment, ground closures banning from Cup competitions would be better. The points deduction devalues the other clubs’ efforts in the season and becomes part of their strategy for avoiding relegation. We were not saved from relegation last year because of points deductions of other teams but it was very close.
Ironically, it’s us going to Reading on Friday in a fixture we would have probably had a good chance of winning anyway. What will be Reading’s attitude be? Will they be delated and accept their fate or will they be fired up knowing that they are likely to be in the bottom three by 5.00pm? I don’t think Paul Ince will standby and let that happen,
There have been a few calls to experiment with the line up when ‘we are safe’. Firstly, with threats over our head safety can only be guaranteed when the last whistle has been blown. Even then the EFL could make up their own rules and penalize or restore points to offenders. The season needs to be seen out with as many wins as possible. We already have teams full of kids anyway and they are very much part of our decent run. Experimentation was the downfall of the last manager. 4 and Five goal drubbings left the Club on a downer and I as a fan don’t want to spend my summer in a state of limbo and pessimism. Season tickets sales need boosting, and I think the 6-1 drubbing at Blackpool didn’t help much.
The Club is on a slight incline at the moment and that needs to be maintained. Players fighting for contracts because they want to be here. Most importantly if we want to attract investors, then we need to be more of an attraction that we are now. The John Eustace out brigade have run for cover for the moment and we need them to stay hidden. A saleable package is what we need to be.

Yes it’s nice to have positivity at the moment and after Ten years of misery l think most Blues fans deserve it for those years have taken a toll on us.As l mentioned yesterday there is still a lot of work to be done and it will take many many years to bring the Stadium up to scratch,the recruitment of playing staff,get the Academy back to top division but with a PLAN it can be done and that is no more than the long suffering loyal Blues fans deserve.
Can’t understand the anti Eustace brigade. Sacking managers has done us no favours, he has had a relatively weak squad and still done reasonably well and the players seem to like him.
Just seems crazy with the money spent in football that is all Birmingham need is about £25/£30 million to get trusty , sianderson , beliek and rhadra signed which would then allow us to get another six class loanees in next season and finish ground repairs so stadium is rocking , it’s a big city club in second tier of football being sold at rock bottom price , why can’t we have the luck and get wealthy buyers , look at villa couldn’t pay wages and in Covid slump , money comes in and major changes , we need the LUCK.
