Blues made it three wins in a row in a competitive match against Southampton Sunday afternoon. Blues super striker Jade Pennock & super sub Ashley Hodson got the us over the line in a really entertaining game some decisions again were made that I really didn’t understand but Adewunmi Soneye also made some good advantage plays so fair play to him. I have already said if we want to make the Women’s game a Professional game then we have to make everything full time and that includes the official’s.

FIRST HALF

Blues should have been in front as early has the first minute when Claudia Walker was stronger then the Saints goalkeeper Rendell but the referee disallowed the goal for a foul.

Then in the 10th minute a fantastic ball into the box from Claudia Walker find the head of Jade Pennock but her header went over the bar.

Southampton’s first chance of the game when Lucia Kendell shot skimmed the top of the crossbar in the 29th minute one minute later it should have been 1-0 Blues when Claudia Walker round Kayla Rendell and her shot was cleared of the line from Rosanna Parnell so close.

But in the 35th minute the referee Adewunmi Soneye pointed to the spot the Saint player were trying to put pressure on JP but her composure put it past Kayla Rendell to make it 1-0.

Two minutes later The Saints could have equalized when Beth Lumsden shot was brilliantly saved from Lucy Thomas to keep it 1-0.

But in the 40th minute the equalizer did come and yet again it was penalty. The responsibility was up to Ella Pusey and she slotted it away to make it 1-1.

HALF TIME BLUES 1-1 SOUTHAMPTON

SECOND HALF

The first chance of the second half came in the 62nd minute when Charlie Devlin’s corner was met by the captain Louise Quinn but it was straight at Rendell. Blues retook the lead in the 74th minute when Martha Harris played a great ball through to super sub Ashley Hodson and she put it passed Kayla Rendell to make it 2-1 to the girls in royal blue.

The last chance of the game came for Blues when Lucy Quinn did some magnificent work to make a opportunity for herself but her curling shot was straight at Rendell.

FULL TIME BLUES 2-1 SOUTHAMPTON

MY THOUGHTS ON THE GAME

Blues make it three wins in a row thanks to Jade & Ashley and blues are looking like the team we had seen in the first part of the season. We gained revenge from the 0-1 defeat in October some of the play was really good but sometimes we were a bit nervous overall though very good .

POM

Like the away game against Sheffield United Ashley Hodson is a super sub she plays with no fear. She is brilliant to watch and a great finisher.

INJURIES

The only negative was the loss of Siobhan Wilson and after losing Christie Murray in the last game against Coventry I hope both of them are okay especially Shiv she was in a lot of pain a she had to be carried off by the medical departments.

WHAT NEXT

International break now Blues will be back in action away at Crystal Palace on the 16th of April .
