BLUES RING THE CHANGES AND ITS GOALS, GOALS, GOALS

When we were approaching the transfer window the cry was to improve our firepower and add a bit of guile to the midfield. So, the guy in charge, Craig Gardener, set about doing just that. In came Lyle Taylor, Juninho Bacuna, Onel Hernandez and Taylor Richards. Fantastic signings are they not? Richards of course we signed injured and got Covid as soon as he stepped through the door. If he actually ever did step through the door.

Apart from Richards the others have hit the ground running. Can’t wait to see them alongside Deeney, Chong, Aneke and Riley Mcgree except of course Deeney and Chong like Richards are out till March and Mcgree returned to his parent club. They of course flogged him to Middlesbrough. A club like Middlesbrough are bound to turn a young Aussie international’s head. Tee-side is of course the sun trap of the North east and only 14,000 miles from some pretty decent surfing.

Aneke returned to Charlton and is playing pretty well. That is always likely happen when you actually put a player on the pitch. He joins Jonathon Leko there who, after 18 months with Blues, scored no goals and contributed an equal number assists. Leko did get on the score sheet at Charlton on his return but now finds himself back on the bench. He was replaced by who else? Aneke.

So how about the defence?

Firstly, we lost Matija Sarkic our Goalkeeper who after some impressive displays and 10 clean sheets, managed to dislocate his shoulder underarming the ball ten yards to a defender. Fortunately, we were able to bring back Neil Etheridge another international keeper. Neil after 6 months on the side lines and having suffered a near death bout of Covid the Philippine custodian has certainly not at been at his best. Also out of the reckoning, after being told his services would no longer be required is Harlee Dean. I would suggest with our defence, leakier than the Boris Johnson cabinet* he would be more benefit to us playing at St Andrews than on loan at Sheffield Wednesday.

Dean Sanderson was recalled to Molineux to be looked over by the Wolves manager.  He obviously liked what he saw and whisked him off to QPR. Strange really because if I was to name Deans two worse games, they were against QPR.

Away too was Juan Castillo to Chelsea who was not considered up to scratch. I agree and think the Mitch Roberts looked as good if not better. Mitch finds himself at Carlisle United on loan inexplicably.

Obviously, we have brought in replacements. Well, one. The Manchester United 19-year-old Teden Mengi is an excellent addition. Minus 4 plus one is not such a great sum I’m afraid and the boy will do well to fill up all the holes. Still, as long as we keep away from injuries, we should be all okay. Unfortunately, Blues are not an injury free zone and we started at Bournemouth without Marc Roberts and finished without Mengi.

So having trashed Luton 5-0 at Kenilworth Road early season we have scorers of four of the goals probably not starting on Saturday. It would be nice to complete our first double of the season however.

Have I depressed you with my weekly rant? Don’t be. We are playing decent football in the front end of the park and we are scoring goals. We may need 3 to get a draw. Who knows? Keep smiling #KRO
