A come back from behind win for the girls in royal blue against a really good Sheffield United got blues right back on track in a tight game against United. Blues had the first chance of the game when Harriett Scott ball to Jade Pennock and her shot went wide in the 8th minute.

Both sides where cancelling each other Blues had a chance in the 24th minute when the returning Tara Bourne to the first team squad shot went over the bar. Tara had another chance again from a corner in the 32nd minute but yet again her shot went over the bar.

The last chance of the first half to blues was a free kick from Christie Murray that just went wide in the 46th minute. Then the sucker punch some great inter play from Sheffield United and the ball come to Courtney Sweetman Kirk and she placed it beautifully into the corner past Lucy Thomas in the 47th minute.

BLUES 0-1 SHEFFIELD UTD

Like the first half Jade Pennock had the first chance of the half when her dipping shot was saved from Bethan Davies in the 53rd minute. Blues were getting back into the game put some of the final passing wasn’t helping team blues were sometimes looking nervous on the ball giving it away very cheaper.

Blues finally got the goal that their deserve for their second half performance when Wilsons ball was flicked on from Louise Quinn into the bottom far corner in the 71st minute.

Blues were looking for the winner and in the 97th minute an unbelievable goal from Lucy Quinn Christie Murray play it to her and passed a couple of challenges and hit a thunderbolt into the top corner scenes of delight in the stands unless you were a Sheffield United you can see how much it meant to the girls after a disappointing result to Southampton a massive three points to blues.

AFTER THOUGHTS

A much needed three points for the girls in royal blue and also a gritty performance coming back from behind showing the toughness of the side there’s still is a lot of work to do with how we play with and without the ball and being composed on the ball but it was must win today after the success of Bristol City going nine points clear from us today.  A tough game next week against London City we must not lose the momentum before the huge game against Bristol City on the 20th of November.

Also great to see the Her Game Too girls on the pitch at half time with the kids great to see.
