Our Monday Guests

So on Monday we bring you a former BCFC defender who won multiple awards whilst at the club including Fans player of the season. Our Fan cam guest is a regular poster on the site and now brings his information to the screen.

This weeks guest – Franck Queudrue

Our player guest was born 27th August 1978 in Paris who went on to make 369 professional appearances. Starting his footballing career in the youth system at Lens where he made 41 appearances before stepping up. In 2001 Franck joined Middlesbrough initially on loan before the club made the move permanent. Making 150 appearances and scoring 11 goals Franck made a big impact. Fulham then signed the left back in 2006 where he made just 29 appearance before moving on to join Blues.

Signing for 3 years for a reported £2.5 million Franck went on to make a total of 47 appearances. It was widely publicised that our then owner David Sullivan publicly slated Queudrue which he later that same day went on to retract. The following pre-season, Franck was told by the club that he could leave on a free transfer. Instead of leaving Franck went on to be instrumental in the team. Franck ended the season by picking up Fans player of the season and player of the season by the Birmingham Mail. David Sullivan went on to apologise again to Franck through the clubs website in the last programme of the season.

Franck left Birmingham at the end of the 2010 season before ending his career at Red Star.

Leighton Webster Fan can

This week we welcome Karl Newton to the Leighton Webster Fan Cam. We have caught up with Karl to establish his favourite player, manager Match at blues and of course Pie.

What was your first game ?

Not sure exact game but first big one I can remember vividly was the play off 2nd leg against Watford. I was there with my dad sat lower Tilton. I remember the big Kop/Tilton flag, Adebola’s opener and the Adebola chant. After that, we had the Holdsworth sending off, Rowett’s free kick and Peter Udlovu/ Johnson’s efforts. We were thinking mum would give us a telling off afterwards as it was a school night and I was home late because of extra time and penalties. During the final stages, I in particular remember Grainger Rowett and Poole burying pens and then the agony of Chris Holland, it was pure heartbreak!

Favourite player ?

That’s easy, Grainger. His work effort, graft, hardness, determination and the free kicks. Martin was a proper down to earth guy as well. He was a man of the people and from the outset was the impression you got

Favourite Manager ?

All time gaffer before my going down Barry fry for pure entertainment. During my time going down Brucey leads the way. Winning the playoffs, beating the penalty curse and of-course promotion were fantastic. The pinnacle for me though was the double over Villa during the first season back and other memories along the way of which there were many 🙂

Best Game?

I’m gonna say the Worthington Cup defeat to Liverpool 2001, that was a Liverpool side at their peak under Houllier. A side full of internationals and they continued to win that season. We were a Championship team plodding along as usual in the playoff fold and we went pound for pound with them the whole 120min. Some would argue we outplayed them and were even on performance levels.

Favourite Pie?

Easy this one,  steak and kidney PUKKA. Nick will be happy 🙂
