Pride, Passion, Drive and 3 points

A new year means a fresh start, after the disappointment losing to Leicester 2-0 in December and only having a one shot in a crucial game against are follow midland relegation rivals. 2022 could be a good year for blues women after a phenomenal effort from the girls in royal blue. On Sunday the perfect start happened by beating a undefeated Arsenal side 2-0. Its also fair to say that Jonas Eidevell and his side couldn’t have any complaints about the result.

Attack from the start

From the start of the first half blues look a aggressive giving no time for the gunners to get into their tempo. The fast start paid off early with with Lucy Quinn being so tenacious after Vivianne Miedema lost possession. Lift off began after a wonderful ball was played that Kevin De Bruyne would have been proud of. Libby Smith held off Simone Boye before placing it brilliantly past Manuela Zinsberger in the Arsenal Goal. 1- 0 after just 3 minutes.

The pressing and attacks continued as it looked like the league had been turned upside down. On 42 minutes the player of the match Veatriki Sarri started and finished off a further fantastic move. The result of the move was the ball being buried into the top corner of the net. The emotion was to much for Veatriki as the team celebrated with her and tears were shed. The goal also sent the blues fans crazy and we were on cloud nine .

Could they continue into the 2nd half

The second half was more of the same, Blues on the front foot and aggressive. Arsenal were toothless and apart from a Kim Little shot that was brilliantly blocked by Gemma Lawley there was nothing else to worry about.

Blues had another chance with Jade Pennock however shot was well saved from Zinsberger. The team continued to fight and on the final whistle the sense of releif was seen throughout. Finally the BCFC ladoes have a “W” on the board

This was a stunning and unbelievable performance from the girls in royal blue infact before kick off the bookies were offering 50/1 on a BCFC win. This is what Birmingham city is about pride, passion and commitment that’s all us fans want and these girls have got it in a abundance. Now another tough game against a former blues gaffer Marc Skinner and his Manchester United side who did not play at the weekend against West Ham.

Everybody will take a point against Marc’s side but after our win against the gunners you never know. Get behind the ladies as they need our support
