Quarter Finals here we come !!

BCFC Ladies updates – Sponsored by Garrison Coffee Company

Finally some good news. Blues are through to the quarter finals of the fa cup after a brave battling performance.

I am so delighted that the girls in Royal Blue are going through even though there are more questions then answers in regards to the tactics of the manager. We started with a 5-4-1 formation with Robertson as a left back which lead to the lower league team having more shots during the game. In the end though we got the result and in cup football the result matters then the performance.

In the 12th minute blues women had their first chance when Veatriki Sarri chipped in a free kick, Quinn headed it back across goal but Lawley’s connection was gathered up by Durham’s goalkeeper. The 40th Minute was the next opportunity when Jade Pennock laid the ball to Sarri but her shot went wide .

0-0 at the interval

The second half started with Marie Hourihan making a wonderful save from Briggs but Blues continued to push and made the break through on the 78th minute. The goal came from a pin-point Sarri cross to captain marvel (and friend of the show) Louise Quinn to head home. The Ladies knew that Durham were going to have to have a go but soaked up everything that was thrown at them. The final whistle blew and the celebrations began.

What’s next ?

After a difficult couple of weeks for the girls this acted a great morale boost. The next game though doesn’t get any easier for them with a live game against the Gunners on BBC. Lets hope that the ladies can use this result to build on and get a repeat of the result from the St Andrews fixture
