THE LONDON LIONESSES BEAT THE BLUES IN A HARD FOUGHT BATTLE

London City Lionesses have completed a Hat-rick of wins over blues after a 1-0 win at St Andrews on Sunday. I thought this will Blues day after Lionesses defeat against Bristol City on Wednesday and losing Melissa Phillips to Angel FC but this squad don’t know when their beat and you have to give credit to the Interim Coach Nikita Runnacles after what could have been a difficult circumstance but she has galvanised the team and full credit to her and the team.

FIRST HALF

Blues started well with the high press and got a lot joy from it . The first opportunity came in the 10th minute with a free kick from Scottish Maestro Christie Murray that rattled the crossbar.

Blues then had another chance in the 29th minute with Claudia Walker but her shot was straight at Shae Yanez

SECOND HALF

It only took 60 seconds for the visitors to take the lead when player of the match Karin Maya went down the flank but two players before passing to Shanade Hopcroft whos shot was blocked but ended up back to Maya to poke it home .

The Lionesses could have and should have doubled the lead when former Bluenose Sarah Ewens shot went over the bar before she was substitute .

The last chance for Blues was a shot from Lucy Quinn that brought out the best from Shae Yanez.

FULL TIME BLUES 0-1 LONDON CITY LIONESSES

MY THOUGHTS

Blues are still fourth in the Championship but now eight points behind Bristol City who are second and London City Lionesses who are top both on 30 points .

I have no complaints about the first half we were battling had chances competed but yet again in the second half one mistake cost us. London City then grew into the game more after the goal and showed great quality at times. Blues tried but couldn’t break through

So congratulations to London City Lionesses if we do not go up then I think London City deserve to go up in the three games we played against them .

PLAYER OF THE MATCH

I have to Karin Muya her pace and strength for the goal was amazing the Blues defence couldn’t handle her.

REFEREE’S

Now lets talk seriously the refereeing in the WSL and The Championship m. This has been nothing more then diabolical and people say yes its the referees fault but if you don’t know you should know that the referee’s in the WSL and The Championship are part time. This has to change and the F.A need to get their finger’s out of their backside and make the WSL and The Championship employ full time. If they want to make the WSL the power force in women’s football then they have to act like it and care about it. Make official’s full time, lines people full time and 4th official’s full time then we don’t have to worry about the person with the whistle in his or her’s mouth .

WHATS NEXT

Blues next game is in the F.A Cup against Charlton on the 26th of Feb and our next home game is Blackburn Rovers on the 5th March.
