what a week, Leko’s treble Bellinghams double

What a week! So many wonderful things have happened in the place that bares the Brother of Christ’s name. This is in contrast to that other place that bares the name of a Mexican cut-throat. But I digress. On Monday night the mighty right foot of Jonathon Leko found the back of the net not once, but three times against Colchester United U/21 team. The opposition was mediocre it has to be said. The regulars in that side were saved for the EFL trophy the night afterwards. You can only play what’s in front of you and I hope that Jonathon is lifted by this and goes on to better things. Jobe Bellingham netted the other two in a 5-0 drubbing. Jobe perhaps deserves a bit more credit as the opponents were of a similar age to him.

So, what else? Oh yes Preston North End conceded their first goal of the season when M. Colin headed a Jordon Graham cross home. 1-0 victory to the visitors who fielded a number of signings picked up in the final days of the Transfer window. A transfer window which if you had followed it on Sky, you would not have known Birmingham City were involved in at all. What is wrong with these people? The PERMANENT signing for us, of Tahith Chong from Manchester United surely warranted a mention.

The ’Chairman’ will give it a big mention. WELL DONE BLUES. Whoever pulled that off wants a Knighthood. Having him in the side with Bielik and the availability of Hannibal was a new team. We can go on and on about how wonderful it is to see our own youngsters on the pitch but they are not up to it yet. Integrated with some quality and at one or two at a time will see them progress.

In the Transfer Window we lost out on Maga from Bordeaux who decided against coming and getting a bit greedy. This did not bother me much as his record at Sunderland and Stoke was modest. A few pointed to the Dugarry connection which is amusing. We were Premier League when we signed him and Bordeaux were Champions League, Currently Bordeaux are languishing in Ligue 2 and I would recommend a bottle of Entre de Mers and a visit to the Ballet rather than La Matmut Atlantique.

What was annoying was he left it so late there was no chance to redirect our attentions elsewhere. Kabongo Tshimanga from Chesterfield was almost over the line and he failed a medical. To top it all we could not recall Sam Cosgrove from Plymouth and he gets two crucial goals at Pride Park against Derby. Wouldn’t be Blues if he hadn’t.

All this late drama I would have freely given for the Chong signing and that 1-0.

I will be paying my first live visit to Stans on Saturday trains permitting. Only three points will do if the revival is to have meaning.
