DURHAM GET ONE OVER THE BLUES
A disappointing performance from the girls Sunday afternoon with a Durham side that were more up for it then us with the three great performances before today’s game it looks like it came back to earth today, we didn’t really make anything happened today with any substance. If you listen to the interviews of Amy and Lily Agg there were really ignored of the performance but saying that you have to give credit to Durham and the gaffer Adam Furness who bullied use and more importantly got the winner just after half time from a class finish from Lily Crosthwaite. But this is the championship and with Sunderland beating London City Lionesses this afternoon it’s going to be one of those seasons.
FIRST HALF
The first chance of the game came for Durham when some really good play between Hannah Blake & Lily Crosswaite founds Mollie Lambert who fired just wide of the near post in the 6th minute.
The next chance of the game came for the hosts when Crosswaite slips in Holmes and a low cross is almost turned home by Johns only for great block from Gemma Lawley in the 9th minute.
The first chance for Blues come in the 26th minute when Lily Agg shot was saved from Tatiana Saunders .
In the 27th minute Crosthwaite cross is met by Blake, but her effort is blocked by Blues.
In the 36th minute Durham should have been 1-0 when a corner is fizzed into the box by Blake shot was well saved from Thomas and then Gemma Lawley brilliantly denies Holmes on the follow up.

The first chance of the game was the opening goal of the game for Durham and their fully deserved it when Crosthwaite steals the ball on the half-way and runs towards the box and slots it passed Lucy Thomas to make it a deserve 1-0 lead for Durham in the 46th minute.
In the 53rd minute Blues almost found the equalizer with a well worked corner was cleared under the crossbar.
In the 58th minute Lee’s shot was blocked by Briggs but was cleared by Wilson.
In the 62nd minute a corner was headed over by Gemma Lawley, but a free kick was given with a foul on Saunders.

MY THOUGHTS ON THE GAME
A really poor performance from the girls this afternoon after the super start to the season if you listen to Amy’s and Lily Agg’s post match interviews you can see the frustration on their faces both said that they were bullied on and off the ball and I completely agree with that assessment I would have started with Martha Harris I know she is coming back from an injury but I would have given her 60 minutes and also I would have started Ivanna Fuso for that strength in attack but it didn’t come and we ended up with are first defeat of the season.
MY PLAYER OF THE MATCH
I have to go for Lily Crosswaite not just for the goal but a whole game she was awesome causing are back line problems and her goal was quality.
CONGRATULATIONS TO CHRISTIE HARRISON-MURRAY ON HER 100TH APPEARANCE FOR BLUES
There was one bit of positive news that came from the disappointed of today’s game that the brilliant Christie Harrison-Murray reach her 100th appearance for Blues to many of you who know Christie has become my second favourite player in a Blues shirt she will always give her time to the fans on and off the field. Christie came to Blues when Carla Ward was in charge in August 2020 and become a huge hit instantly with Blues fans her passion and determination on the pitch but also quality on the ball and when we got relegated I was fearing the worse that she will leave us but she wanted to stay on with the club and we all thankful for it congratulations Christie.
