BLUES WOMEN V NEWCASTLE UNITED PREVIEW

Blues are back at home this weekend after taking four points from their opening two games and now face the team in my opinion where the best team I have seen at St Andrews @Knighthead Park last season in Newcastle United .

MATCH PREVIEW

Blues had to come from behind to get a well-deserved point at The Stadium Of Light after Emily Scarr gave the black cats the lead, but Blues responded straight away when Veatriki Sarri cut inside the box and curled it into the corner passed a standing Grace Moloney. You can see Amy was frustrated after the game, but a point is better than nothing and started the season really well we were up against two good sides in Bristol & Sunderland  who will be up there at the end of the season, it was great to see Ji coming onto the field in a blues shirt and also Oceane coming on was a joy to see.

For Newcastle United and Manager Rebecca Langley it was a frustrating 1-1 draw with Sheffield United with former Bluenose Charlie Devlin giving the blades the lead with a sweet strike in the 45th minute. It looked like the blades were holding for a deserved three points but in the 85th minute Jasmine McQuade scored with their first shot on target.  Rebecca has had a brilliant transfer window bringing some experience and familiar faces into the toon the first is a former bluenose in Aoife Mannion a fantastic piece of business for Newcastle the second is former Lionesses Jordon Nobbs and there also brought in some players from the championship in Jemma Purfield & Molly Pike from Southampton both I have been impressed with when there have played for the saints. Just like us the toon want to get into the WSL has soon as possible and I think there got all the qualities to get into those promotion places this year.

PLAYERS TO LOOK OUT FOR

The first player I’m going for is Shania Hayles who had a brilliant season last year scoring fifteen times and assisting twice.

The second is Jordan Nobbs she can dictate any game, and we need to be wary of her.

And the third is Demi Stokes always quality on the ball and has already got an assisted this season.

LAST TIME WE MET

The last time we met was on the 27th of April 2025 and it was a tale of two headers Blues took the lead in the 27th minute when Simone Magill headed over Claudia Moan, but the toon equalized in the 56th minute from the retired Rachel Furness .
