BLUES WOMEN V BRISTOL CITY SUBWAY LEAGUE CUP PREVIEW

Blues start of their Subway League Cup Campaign on Wednesday night against Bristol City at StAndrews @KnightheadPark Amy and the girls want to improve on last year’s group stage elimination and hopefully go through to the knockout stages. Like Amy says one game at a time and we face the robins after their opening day defeat to us there have recorded back-to-back wins and will be a tough test for us.
MATCH PREVIEW
Blues have come of a brilliant 4-2 win over Newcastle United on Sunday, and confidence is high in the group goals from Veatriki Sarri Batcheba Louis Lily Crosthwaite & and a debut goal from Oceane Hurte made it a brilliant day in front of the Blues fans and put us back on top of the table on goal difference. But what I want from this group is a good cup run the last good cup run we were on was in 2023 and lost in the F.A Cup Quartar Finals against Amy Merricks Brighton Side 0-2. And we been finalists in this competition to so I think a good cup run will be great we got a squad can challenge in both the league and cups this season.
For the Robins after losing to us on the opening day they have got back-to-back wins against Portsmouth and more impressively against Simon Parker’s Southampton side and off the pitch there has been some positive news as well with Mercury13, who acquired a major stake in Bristol City Women so everything is rosy at Ashton Gate, they have got a talented head coach in Charlotte Healy and a team that will be fighting for one of those promotion spots.
PLAYERS TO LOOK OUT FOR
My first pick is of course Lexi Lloyd-Smith like I said netted ten times for the robin’s last season and will cause any defence in the championship nightmares and scored the winner at Southampton this weekend.
My second pick I hate to say this is Gemma Lawley a great servant for Blues Women and from set pieces she is always a danger and a fantastic signing for Bristol City.
And my third player is Rio Hardly an experienced forward who City brought in from Rangers in the summer.
LAST TIME WE MET
We met on the opening day of the season when we won 5-1 goals from a brace for Magill, Crosthwaite,a great strike from Harrison-Murray and Batcheba Louis rounded off a great day for the blues fans.
