Blues have the chance to reach the Adobe Women’s FA Cup Semi Finals for the first time since 2020 where we lost to Everton. But it won’t be easy has we are coming up against Andrée Jeglertz, Manchester City’s side who are top of the tree in the WSL and coming off a comfortable derby day delight beating United 3-0.
MATCH PREVIEW
Blues went back to the top of WSL2 on Wednesday night after beating Sunderland 1-0 thanks to the brilliance of Lily Crosthwaite scoring an unbelievable goal in stoppage tim, with two games to go confidence is high in the camp and can go into Mondays game on a high and hopefully pull of one of the most surprising FA Cup shocks in history. But everyone knows how difficult it be against the WSL leaders.
For Andrée Jeglertz his City side are coming off a comfortable Manchester Derby beating United 3-0 with goals from Vivianne Miedema with a brace followed up by Kerstin Casparij’s strike sealed a precious three points at Old Trafford and now five points away from the title. Of course, City has got an abundance of talent and have been the best side in the WSL this season and Andrée has done an incredible job . And of course, we need to keep Miedema & Shaw quiet easily said than done there have scored between them an incredible 28 goals and will be adding more from now to the end of the season. The Blues defence need to have the game of their lives to keep them out.
MY PLAYERS TO WATCH
I can pick the whole team but I will pick three of the City side
My first is Khadija Shaw the top goal scorer for Manchester City with an incredible eighteen goals this season her strength vision and lethal goal scoring instincts are amazing and we need to be on are game to keep her quiet.
The second is another forward Vivianne Miedema who also is into double figures for the season and scoring a brace last weekend against United. The Dutch international like Shaw has got everything vision strength and is lethal in front of goal.
And the third is England international Lauren Hemp always quality on the ball with her pace and her delivery and has already assisted six times and scored once we need to double on her .
