As all Bluenoses heard a couple of days ago that Club Legend and Icon of the club Kerys Harrop has decided to call time on her brilliant career. I thought she would finish her career at Blues. She is the Blues Women’s all-time record appearances holder with an incredible 261 appearances for the girls in royal Blue before moving to WSL rivals Tottenham Hotspur in 2020 under Manager Rehanne Skinner .

BLUES CAREER

Kerys Signed for Blues when she was just nine years old and made her first team debut against Arsenal when she was 15 years old where she had to mark Kelly Smith, but she took to it like a duck to water . She then was in the side that the day that Blues Women’s fans will never forget, the win over Chelsea at Ashton Gate in the FA Cup final. She played really well and deserved to be on the winning side like the rest of that team. Then after another icon of the club Laura Bassett went to Chelsea Kerys became club Captain and went on to wear Basset’s famous number six shirt. Kerys went onto captain the side under till her departure in 2020. She was a champion’s league semi-finalist, but we lost out to Tyreso FF with the legendary Marta in their side. Kerys also led out the team in the 2017 F.A Cup Final against Manchester City but this time we lost to an excellent city side . She stayed at the club for a further three years before she departed in 2020.

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR

Kerys signed for Spurs in 2020 under Rehanne Skinner and made 48 appearances for the London side. She made history back in April when she became the WSL all time highest appearance maker against Everton making her 178th appearance in the WSL, an amazing achievement .

MY TRIBUTE

Kerys is one of a kind to stay at a club for twenty years wining a F.A Cup, semi-finalist in the Champions League and going on to represent the club at another F.A Cup final and for this she will always be an icon for our club . As a player she represents everything a player should, commitment and passion on and off the pitch. It’s also not just with the first team but the kids also as they look up to her has an idol .

I first sore Kerys play in my first ever woman’s game against Zorky in 2013 and she was super. She played with not a care in the world, and she got a goal too in the 50th minute. She embodies everything that we want as a Blues fan commitment passion and quality, Kerys has this in abundance and in my opinion will be in the Hall Of Fame alongside Karen Carney soon.?Good luck for the future Kerys in whatever you do and I sure you will nail it .

THANK YOU KERYS
