BIG LOU AND CHRISTIE HARRISON-MURRAY HEADED BLUES TO VICTORY

Blues have made it three wins out of three in the league and even more impressively not conceded a goal at home this season which is a credit to the back line. Blues got the goals from two headers one you would expect but the another who would not. Louise Quinn got her second of the season in the twenty fifth and the second headed goal came from unlikely source Christie Harrison-Murray, with a brilliant diving header in the 77^th minute it was great day for Christie who received her 100^th appearance shirt at the beginning of the game Hope Powell . Blues made Louise Quinn captain and in the squad for the first time was Simone Magill .

FIRST HALF 

Blues started well and the first chance come in the first minute when Lee Geum -Min crossed for Ivana Fuso but her header went over the bar.

Then in the 24^th minute Louise Quinn went on a run and her shot deflected wide just passed Alex Brooks post. From the resulting corner Ashanti Akpan delivered it onto the head of Big Louise Quinn who guided it home for 1-0 the goal we needed.

In the 30^th minute Lily Agg crossed found Tegan Mcgowen who shot went over the bar and six minutes later Mcgowen had another opportunity but this time it was saved from Alex Brooks.

The last chance of the came for the visitors when a corner for Rovers was headed by Emma Taylor and Lucy Thomas made a great save.

SECOND HALF

In the 49^th Ellie Mason put the ball in the box Alex Brooks parried it away who the collied with Tegan Mcgowan and the follow up by Mckenna went wide of the goal, but the referee Phoebe Cross called a foul on Brooks.

Then in the 57^th minute another great save from substitute goalkeeper Popper Soper who replaced former Blues goalkeeper Alex Brooks who was injured from a close range shot from Rebecca Mckenna.

Then in the 58^th minute a free kick form Ivanna Fuso was straight at Poper Soper.

Then in the 62nd minute another free kick for Blues this time Tegan Mcgowen shot was parried away from Soper.

In the 72nd minute a brilliant run from Ellie Mason who went into the box but her shot just went wide of the far post.

And in the 77^th the minute Blues killed the game off when Cho So-Hyun found Ellie Mason who turned and delivered a beautiful ball onto the diving head of Christie Harrison-Murray whose far post header went past a devastated Poppy Soper to make it 2-0.

In the 85^th minute a Ellie Mason shot was saved from Soper.

The last chance of the game Ellie Mason played it into Christie Harrison-Murray who pulled it back by the byline but just bypassed Simone Magill and was cleared by Blackburn.

MY THOUGHTS ON THE GAME 

A great win for Amy and the girls and times we needed to be defensively solid but overall, a fully deserved victory. At times it was a bit of a repeat from last season’s 0-0 game but when Big Lou scored in the 25^th minute there was relief at St Andrews @ Knighthead Park and to cap it all off on the day she received her 100^th appearance shirt Christie Harrison-Murray headed home the second to give us a well-deserved win. You can see what it meant to her when she scored a person, I always had so much respect for her when she played for Shelly Kerr’s Arsenal side. She will always give her all on & off the pitch and we lucky to have her. Also, on another positive it was great to see Ellie Mason back in a league game and her contribution in today’s game was brilliant ,
