Blues were now full of confidence with Lucy Quinn having a shot from 35 yards that was just to high. The pressure did not ease and Emily Whelan yet again had a shot saved from the centre of the box .

The second half started as the 1st had ended and on the 46th minute with Whelan once again with a shot outside of the box high and wide . Veatriki Sarri was so unlucky from a shot outside the box hitting the left side of the post in the 59th minute and Blues yet again just missed out in the 61th minute with a header saved from the Sunderland goalkeeper Moan.

Blues continued to push as they needed to double the lead but they couldn’t and on the 86th minute the ladies conceded through Kiera Ramshaw. The goal came rom a rebound assisted from Neve Herron.

EXTRA TIME

In the 100th minute of Lucy Whipp the hero for blues women scored an unbelievable header from no more then 35th yards in the bottom of Moan’s corner with the assist from Gemma Lawley.

Christie Murry had a shot from 35 yards in the centre of the goal in the 110th minutes before Jade Pennock had a further long range. Blues hung on for a big win after the disappointment of the Reading defeat and go in to the the game of the year against relegation rivals Leicester City on Sunday. It is going to be a nervous time for the ladies but if they can generate the we will not lose mentality as they did against the Gunners then we will be ok. A win will help them take a massive step towards WSL safety.
