BLACKBURN ROVERS WOMEN V BLUES WOMEN PREVIEW

The girls in royal blue are looking for three wins in a row and keeping the momentum going has their travel up to Ewood Park this Sunday to get another win to keep them on top of the summit and keep the chasing pack keep chasing but it won’t be easy against Simon Parker’s Blackburn Rovers side who are fighting for their lives to keep their Women’s Championship status in tacked.

MATCH PREVIEW

Blues are looking for the third win in a row and also looking for their third clean sheet and also looking for their sixth away win on the road which is an incredible achievement if it happens. Amy has done an unbelievable job up to this point keeping all the squad on their toes cause like i said at the beginning of the season everybody in the squad will be called on and we are still missing Louise Quinn and Jamie Finn who is really close to the first team squad after her ACL injury while on international duty. Also, I’m also pleased with our goalkeeper Oliwia Szperkowska  who has been taking a bit of stick-on social media after the performance against Sunderland, but she has got two clean sheets in the last two games, and she will gain confidence from that. Blues got a 1-0 win last time out with an unreal strike from Shannon Cooke who has been nominated for the strike and also player of the month for February a great start to her Blues career for the West Ham loanee.

For Simon Parker’s Rovers side, it has been a struggle only getting seven points in eleven games but there have games in hand over there relegation rivals Sheffield United and Portsmouth who have both played fourteen games each and Rovers have played eleven, games  so I expected them to survive but it has been difficult for the manager Simon Parker since the beginning of the season losing key players including fans favourite and someone I would have loved to see in a Blues shirt in Jade Richards who has joined  Rebecca Sawiuk Burnley side Jade made seventy-nine appearances for Rovers  and scored five goals. Also, there lost striker Megan Hornby who scored the winner against us on the opening day of last season who has joined relegation rivals Portsmouth. But I still expect a tough game against us because there will give everything to keep their Barclays Championship status . Last time out there lost in the game of the weekend losing to third place Durham Rovers were holding on to a well deserved draw but Beth Hepple scored in the 97th minute to keep there promotion hopes alive.

 PLAYERS TO LOOK OUT FOR

The first player I’m going for will be Rover’s forward Farah Crompton who is always working her socks of and has got three goals to her name this season. The next player has also got three goals to her name and that’s Maria Edwards a really tricky centre forward and always gives her all in a Rover’s shirt. And the third is Welsh midfielder Chole Williams again a really tricky player and the girls need to be on their game to keep her quiet.

LAST TIME WE MET

We last met on the 6th of October and it was a tale of two headers when Louise Quinn got her second goal of the season from an Ashanti Akpan corner.  Then some brilliant work by Ellie Mason picked out a cross onto the diving head of Christie Harrison-Murray who made it 2-0 on which was a special day for the Scottish Maestro who received her 100th appearance shirt from Hope Powell before the beginning of the game.
