Blues on Wednesday evening showed a devastating first half display to beat Crystal Palace to move up a place to 4th in the championship. After the disappointment of Sundays Quarter Finals defeat to Brighton the Blues showed their mean streak and we witnessed the first goal in Blue for Olivia Mcloughlin. Another brace for Super Jade Pennock showed how much value she brings. we now need to offer a new and improved contract in order to keep her for a further promotion push next season. The only negative of the evening was the crowd I know it was midweek game but I think we could have done better and fair play to the Crystal Palace fans that turned up in my opinion the best away support I heard this season .

FIRST HALF

Blues started off really well and had a couple of early chances in the first four minutes. Lucy Quinns shot went wide and Super Jade strike shot was well saved by Crystal Palace goalkeeper Frances Kitching . In the 15th minute the visitors had their first opportunity when Annabel Blanchard had a strike from inside the box but it was well saved by Lucy Thomas.

In the 21st minute Blues should have made it 1-0 when Claudia Walker slid a lovely ball into the inform Jade Pennock but she smashed into the side netting. Blues had another chance in the 29th minute when Claudia Walkers low shot was again saved well by Kitching. A minute later Blues took the lead, a brilliant one two between Walker & Mcloughlin which she smashed into the top corner, get in .

In the 38th minute Lucy Quinn’s beautifully chipped cross was headed on for Super Jade but yet again she hit the crossbar. In the 41st minute Jade finally got on the scoresheet when she intercepted Frances Kitching pass to score in a empty net.

Then it was three with a well worked free kick, Quinn played it to Charlie Devlin with a beautiful touch find Jade to make it another brace for the season. Jade is now second in the goal scoring charts with 9 a great season for her.

SECOND HALF

The first chance of the second half came to Palace when Coral-Jade Haines had a shot from outside of the area that just went over.

Then it was another chance for Palace with Anna Filbey which also seen her shot just went over in the 53rd minute.

Blues first chance of the second half came when Lucy Quinn played Jamie Finn in but Kitching came out to stop her low shot. Finally Palace did get on the scoresheet from a great ball from Annabel Blanchard for Rianna Dean to tap in to make it 3-1.

Blues then had a chance with Hodson but her shot was saved by Kitching to her near post in the 65th minute. Blues should have made it 4-1 when Jade’s flick on was shot over the bar from Martha Harris in the 70th minute.

Then Palace had another chance when Annabel Blanchard shot from outside the box was well held from Lucy Thomas. The last chance of the game was for Palace when the ball find Polly Doran but went over the bar.

MY THOUGHTS ON THE GAME

A ruthless first half display from the girls in royal blue put the game to bed with Jade getting another brace and Olivia getting her first goal for the club and I would love her to come back to the club on a permanent deal  also I love the relationship between Claudia & Jade which is growing in confidence and also two assists for Claudia just want her to score more goals then we got has we know a hell of a player on our hands. It was also get to see Tara Bourne get a start a huge talented for Manchester United in years to come . The only disappointing thing was the crowd which I found disappointing I know it was a midweek game and I know the weather was crap but I thought after Sundays game I thought it would be a good attendance how wrong was I . Also it was great to see Hannah Hampton at the game after the struggles she’s been through  and will be back in the England  squad for defiantly.

PLAYER OF THE MATCH

I have to go for Olivia Mcloughlin a brilliant performance form the on loan Villa player and like I said I would love to see her back at the club on a permanent basis her tenacity winning the balls going into slide tackles and a great finish for the goal and fully deserved to .

NEXT UP

We away on Sunday against Coventry United safe trip to Blues fans going down their .
