BLUES LEFT IT LATE TO GET ALL THREE POINTS AGAINST SHEFFIELD UNITED

Lily Crosswaite was the hero on Saturday evening getting a 90th minute against a resilient Sheffield United side under Assistant Manager Luke Turner. Blues goals came from substitute Lucy Quinn and 90th minute winner from Lily Crosthwaite after a mistake from the impressive Katie Kean.  It wasn’t the best performance, but we got the win to keep us on top of the table for now. Amy started with the same line up which started against Newcastle United.

MY THOUGHTS ON THE GAME

Like I said a hard-fought win over Sheffield United first of all of our thoughts are with Joy Ralph, and I hope the injury isn’t too serious. The same result has last season and yet again we needed to get a late winner to get all three points to come away from the Lane still on top of the table. Two people I want to pick out one is Lily Crosthwaite who worked non-stop today and if she doesn’t get an award at the end of season awards, I be shocked. And the second is Lucy Quinn when she came on after half time, she changed the game with pressing and pace and on another day, she could have got a brace if it wasn’t for a brilliant save from Kean. It wasn’t the prettiest of matches but what I liked about this squad when we do have a setback we responded brilliantly after the blades equalized, we didn’t feel sorry for ourselves we kept battling away and finally we got the winner and over the course of the game we deserved it. And with Bristol City losing to newly promoted Nottingham Forest this evening this type of games are going to be a war of attrition and it’s great to see the togetherness of the squad to we need this more than ever especially after the disappointment of last season you thought there will be an hangover but no Amy has brought there togetherness and started of the season in fine form. Yes, there will be setbacks in the season, but it’s the reaction is what us fans are looking for and under Amy we will get one.

MY PLAYER OF THE MATCH

I have to go for Lucy Quinn when she came on, she changed the game her pace caused problems for the back line scored her penalty and on another day she could have got a brace if it wasn’t for a great save from Kean
