Blues set off to the October International break with an unbeaten month and getting their first win at home after beating Watford 5-2 at StAndrews this afternoon a hat trick of Blues debut scorers with Fuso Agg and Mason getting their first for the club and Libby Smith and the talented Charlie Devlin rounded of a brilliant day for the girls in blue. Watford showed some fight with goals from Carly Johns and Lucia Leon and that’s why in my opinion will stay up this season their got experience in the squad with Gemma Davidson and Bianca Baptiste will count them for good stead . Also, this game was dedicated to the Birmingham City Womens Supporters Group who do some brilliant work off well done to everyone involved .

FIRST HALF

The first chance of the game came for Blues in the 10th minute when Libby Smith found Charlie Devlin, but her shot was cleared from Harley Bennett .

Then Devlin was on hand again in the 13th minute but her shot went wide.

Then it was the turn of Lily Agg to have a shot on goal in the 21st minute but it went over the bar.

But two minutes later Blues broke the deadlock with another assist form Lucy Quinn from a corner to the back post and was headed home from Ivanna Fuso to get her first goal in Blue a great start.

In the 30th minute Watford had the first opportunity of the game when Abbie Lafayette run into the box, but her shot was saved from Thomas.

Then in the 36th minute some unbelievable goalkeeping from Jacqui Goldsmid from first a shot from Ellie Mason but reacted brilliantly from Charlie Devlin shot from Close range who thought she had scored a brilliant double save.

Blues then was awarded a penalty in the 41st minute when Mason was brought down in the box with a combination from Mclean and Bennet Lewis Dawson pointed to the spot and Lily Agg placed it brilliantly pass Goldsmid to score her first for the club.

Then three minutes later it was 3-0 to the Blues when yet again the assist queen Lucy Quinn ball across the goal was smashed home from Charlie Devlin Blues were in dreamland.

SECOND HALF

The first chance of the second half came to Watford who got back into the game when Carly Johns got hold of the ball and cooler passed it past Thomas 3-1

But Blues regained their three-goal lead in the 53rd minute when a corner was in the box and the Watford defence couldn’t clear it away and the ball found Libby Smith and she turned it home for her second of the season .

Then in the 62nd minute another debutant goal scorer when another Lucy Quinn corner went in the box and found the head of my player of the season so far Ellie Mason who headed back across goal to make it 5-1 now, we can relax.

In the 76th minute Watford with some good play from Bianca Baptiste who then found Sophie Mclean but her shot went wayward .

But Watford with their never say die attitude got another goal back in the 88th minute with a brilliant ball in from a corner from Abbie Lafayette which was powerfully header home from Lucia Leon for her first goal in a Watford shirt.

MY THOUGHTS ON THE GAME

A brilliant performance from the girls in Blue before the international break have finally got their mojo back and climb up to six in the championship this evening it was great to see some great performances from Fuso Devlin and the assist queen Lucy Quinn . Criag said a few weeks ago on TTS that someone will get a thrashing from us and in the past two games it looks like he was right the only disappointing thing was the goals we conceded i thing both could have been avoided. Also, something else that was concerning was Lucy Quinn injury i think she should have been subbed early when the physio came on then i think Darren should have changed it straight away, but Quinn came off and looked alright.

MY PLAYER OF THE MATCH

I have to go for yet again for Lucy Quinn her deliveries into the box were outstanding she has been brilliant for us the last couple of weeks especially Sheffield United her performance was outstanding.
