Massive wake up call to people who think we are like Man City. May ran his socks off, but there were few bright sparks. Some were way off their game, Laird, Miyoshi, Paik….again, proof that not much can be read into friendlies (public training sessions). Can we win the league? Absolutely! Not writing off 45 chances to put this right just yet KRO

No doubt we missed JJ , his aggression and passing was sadly obvious.
We were lightweight in midfield and slow to get bodies in the box, basically Blues were playing with one attacker.
Dembele should not have started, he loses the ball too easily .
This is a wake up call to the player’s who think they are too good for this league.
We need a midfield enforcer and another striker.
I know we have this lad from Japan, but he is only 21 and will take time to adjust.
Sanderson has to be dropped in favour of Klara.

Anderson. Did more than pretty much everyone else did.

Point gained ultimately. Chris Davies will have quite a bit to unpick, but we came strong at the end against a decent side. Keshi and Hannson both stood out. Bielik and Laird looked pretty good, We looked more dangerous when using the wings, but looked shaky at the back at times first half. We need to give Laird something to aim at in the box. Thought we were a bit fortunate with the penalty, but ref better-placed than me in the GM. Our playing out the back worried me at times. Early days. Think we need to get a lead in games to stop lesser sides than Reading shutting up shop. Pleased we sent those cocky Reading fans home with only the point. Playing tougher opposition first game is no bad thing.

Beilik motm, cool but Sands is like a rabbit in the headlights, weakest link now😳

Weight of expectation equalised the class we had over Reading. Fairplay to Reading for their dogged determination to keep us out. It was their cup final for this season and their tired look at the end said it all, they had to battle for that point, while we looked fresh, ready for another 90mins – we need to leave everything on the pitch like Reading did to get the wins we need. Anyway, KRO.

Today has shown that all those, irrelevant of age that believe we are going to walk this leauge, in my opinion are sorely mistaken. Today on paper we should have undoubtedly and convincingly beaten Reading, the result shows otherwise. We will loose games this season against opposition that we all think and believe that we should without doubt beat. I do believe in my heart we will win this leauge and be promoted, I do however believe that it will not be the walk in the park that many believe it will be

Absolutely appalling. Same old blues clueless lethargic.
Laird was awful.
Anderson good when he came on.

  1. Terrible first half Dembele is awful but fair play to the manager took him off and the subs made the difference.Blues owners have created a monster so big pressure to deliver but I think we will be fine.

  2. As a ‘Cocky Reading fan’ you need to remember a few things before statements like that. firstly we’ve not been able to sign a player for a fee since the summer of 2021. We were hours from hours from going out of existence a few months ago but our takeover should be announced this week. We’ve not been able to sign anyone whatsoever up to this point.
So Cocky? Maybe just a little or perhaps more a case of unbridled joy. Also, if you think this is our ‘Cup final’ then perhaps the word cocky sits a little closer to home??

Anyway, onto the game. For 60 minutes we totally outplayed you. Better football, better energy, & more desire. For the final 30 we were battered. After another 5 matches we will last 90 mins and you will have worked out (hopefully for you) what is needed to play in this division – because if you haven’t it’s not going to be the cake walk you think.

You clearly have the talent (we will be one of the better teams) and importantly the depth. That is where we (in particular) and others will suffer & I suspect you will win a lot of matches late on. Today your passing was dreadful – I cant remember seeing so many over hit in a single game but that will improve I’m sure. You will learn pretty quickly that you have to move the ball quicker, be a little more direct, and realise that a possession based game doesn’t work in this division like it does in the Championship. Having come home and re watched the game I think we were unlucky not to have been more than one up at half time. However at 90 mins I was preying for the final whistle.

A point on the road at St Andrews should (and will be) cherished but right now I almost feel cheated but also grateful. In a few weeks few teams will achieve that.

In the end I think, despite whatever colour glasses you are wearing, everyone will settle for a point. It’s a long season and we’re both on the board. You should go up automatically and all we want is a new owner – although a playoff spot is also not out of the question.

Good luck for the rest of the season (apart obviously from the return fixture).

  3. Was always going to be hard opener, with all the expectation round the team, poor first half looked a bit like normal Blues, a lot of possession but just can not find a end product in final third.

Beilik was fantastic and led by example, Cochrane sound, Anderson and Svensson changed the game when they came on and Harris looked lively.

Laird was awful, for someone who gets so Mitch possesion in the opposition half he has no end product, get it in the box.!!!

Dembele poor and to lightweight and will get even more overpowered in the poor weather and will disappear in games, if there is money on the table for him might be worth considering.

    KRO

  4. Why successive Managers think Dembele is any good beggars belief,he has a similar career to Tyler Roberts, one of inconsistency and let down,l wouldn’t pick either.

  5. Can someone tell the point of the large screens
    All I saw were averts
    And flashing team badges
    No teams sheets
No GOAL light up when we scored
    No substitute names

  6. As a Reading fan, I was thinking this is the most unbiased opinion of the match I’ve seen from a Birmingham fan so car. Then you had to go and say it was Reading’s cup final for the season like Birmingham are Man City or something 🤣 you think too highly of yourselves.
