BLUES WITH A FIVE STAR PERFORMANCE WITH LINDSTROM ON SONG

A excellent five star display for Amy and  her girls in blue beat Nottingham Forest 5-1. Amy gave home debuts to the new signings and it couldn’t have gone any better for Lotta Lindstrom scoring a six minute hat trick in the second half . Also scoring on her home debut was Wilma Liedhammar who headed home from a Veatriki Sarri cross and it was pleasure to see. Amy made one change from  the 0-4 win over Portsmouth and that was giving a home debut start to for Wilma Liedhammar.

FIRST HALF

The first chance of the game came for Blues when Veatriki Sarri shot missed the left hand post in the 3rd minute.

Then in the 9th minute Lotta Lindstrom shot went past the right hand post.

Blues were on top then in the 19th minute a header from Captain Chelsea Cornet was saved from Forest goalkeeper Emily Batty.

The first chance for Nottingham Forest came in 20th minute when Joy Omewa shot went past the left hand post.

But Blues finally broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute when  Wilma Liedhammar played it into Veatriki Sarri  her cross was deflected into the back of the net from former Blues player Georgia Brougham a great start for Blues.

Then in the 29th minute a corner for Blues was delivered into the box  and there was goal mouth scumble it ended up wit a header from Astro Miyagawa which ended up going over.

But Forest were coming back into the game and in the 31st minute some great play from Deanne Rose found Joy Omewa but her shot went past the post.

But with Blues we are fragile at the back and in the 45th minute Forest equalized when a ball was headed from Shannon Cooke into the path of Joy Omewa who run into the box and her shot went through Adrianna Franch Legs.

SECOND HALF

The first chance of the second half was Blues retaking the league when a beautiful ball into the box from Veatriki Sarri went over the goalkeeper Emily Batty and was headed home from  Wilma Liedhammar to give Blues a 2-1 league in the 47th minute.

But in the 69th minute Blues should have been two goals in front when a ball from Shannon Cooke’s long ball caused confusion in the Forest back line  it found it’s way to Lotta Lindstrom who was one on one with Batty but her shot was well saved from the Forest goalkeeper.

But Lindstrom got her goal in the 73rd minute when Wellings tackle found its way to Lindstrom she turned and fired into the bottom corner past Emily Batty a fantastic finish.

Then two minutes later Lindstrom got her second when Lily Crosthwaite did some superb work getting past  Ebba Hed driving into the box and played a through ball to Lindstrom  who put through the legs of Batty to make it 4-1.

Then it was hat trick Lotta Lindstrom when Hopcroft played a ball from outside of her foot to play Lindstrom in and Batty came out and placed it past her a hat trick in six minutes for Lotta Lindstrom what a home debut.

In the 83rd minute a cross form the returning Lee Geum-Min found the head of Shanade Hopcroft went wide.

Hopcroft had another opportunity in stoppage time when her free kick went over the bar.

Then Forest had an opportunity with former Blues player Libby Smith when her half volley was straight at Franch in the 94th minute.

In the 95th minute Blues was so close to a sixth goal when a brilliant ball from Shannon Cooke was control brilliantly  by Oceane Hurtre who run into the box and her shot rattled the crossbar so unlucky.

The last chance of the  game was for Forest when former Blues  Player Charlie Wellings header missed the left hand post.

MY THOUGHTS ON THE GAME

A brilliant display from Amy and her girls  in front of over 1,500 fans at StAndrews@KnightheadPark first half I thought it was fairly equal Blues had their chances but were not ruthless but second half getting that early goal from Wilma  was what we needed and Lotta scoring a hat trick in six minutes was simply unreal but it’s not about scoring the goals it’s her work rate which was unreal and if there is a possibility of getting her on a permanent deal  I take it she is class. Another player is Lily Crosthwaite always gives her all in a blues shirt getting another assist on Sunday. What is great to see from the new signings that the hit the ground running and that is great to see and are bunch is fully of talent and even we can rest players like Christie Harrison-Murray. And now we are three points of the leaders Charlton can we get are hands on the WSL2 Championship remember the last game of the season is away at the valley but plenty of games from now to the end of the season but I believe in Amy and these group of players to  go all the way.

MY PLAYER OF THE MATCH

Lotta Lindstrom I don’t need to say anything else.

UP NEXT

Its a trip to Durham on Sunday and its a 12:00kick off.
