BLUES WOMEN V BLACKBURN PREVIEW
The girls in blue welcome Simon Parker’s Blackburn Rovers side this Sunday at St Andrews @ Knighthead Park on Sunday, who last season took four points from us.
Blackburn have had a tough start to season losing to London City Lionesses 1-2 and losing to Charlton 2-0 but they did beat Remi Allens Southampton side 1-0 between them and in my opinion will stay up comfortable this season.
Blackburn have lost some key players Including Megan Hornby who we seen a couple of weeks ago for Portsmouth their also lost a defender who I really like in Jade Richards who has joined Burnley. But they have brought some really good players in has well with Jemima Dahou joining from Man City and Ellie Noble from Crystal Palace to name a few.
Blues are looking for a reaction after back-to-back defeats against Durham last Sunday in the league and were outclassed against Brighton in the Women’s League Cup 0-3 on Wednesday night. It was great to see Martha Harris back in the starting line up with Ellie Mason and the team did well for seventy minutes but were outclassed by the WSL outfit.
Blues need to start on a high tempo on Sunday and more importantly find a early goal if not I think it will be like last year when Blues created so many chances but fail to score and finished 0-0.
These are the type of games where if we want to get back into the WSL, we need to get maximum points. We need to keep what was a great start to the season at home.
