BLUES WOMEN V SHEFFIELD UNITED WOMEN PREVIEW

Amy Merricks and her girls in blue welcome Ash Thompsons Sheffield United side to St Andrews @Knightheadpark this Sunday and if the results go in favour for the blades there can get out of the relegation zone. For Blues there are looking to build on their tremendous performance against Sunderland last week that put us a point clear at the top of the table, but Bristol and London City Lionesses have games in hand.
MATCH PREVIEW
Blues are looking for back-to-back victories and looking for their first win at home in 2025 blues need to replicate there away form into their home form winning five on the bounce which is an amazing achievement, and our first away win was against Sheffield United winning at Bramall Lane in October. But if we want to get Promoted back to the WSL are home form will be crucial too. For Ash Thompson’s blades side there are point away from the relegation zone but played three more games than Blackburn Rovers but there have some credible results with drawing with Durham in their last match 1-1 and drawing against Newcastle United but between that there lost 0-3 to Charlton Ash and the team need to pick up some points ASAP to keep up their chances of staying in the Championship. Ash has been busy in the transfer market bringing in on permeant deals Jacqui Hand from Lewes Jade Bailey from London City Lionesses and also Esther Morgan from Hearts and there also brought in some quality in on loan with the stand outs with former blues player Connie Scofield & Arsenal’s Madison Earl. For Blues it was a quiet transfer window but also exciting bringing in Shannon Cooke from on loan from West Ham who had an impressive debut against Sunderland and the standout signing bringing in experienced Australian midfielder Emily Van Egmond who was at NWSL side San Diego Wave before joining the blues on a two-and-a-half-year deal we needed to bring in a player with experience to replace the injured Lily Agg who suffered a ACL injury at the beginning of the year and my god Hope and the team had pulled it off on transfer deadline day. But also, there were some contact renews with Neve Herron signing a contract extension and also Club Captain Christie Harrison-Murray extending too. Too the game I think it will be the same as Bramall Lane really tight and cagey but whoever gets the first goal could control the game but like I said against Sunderland Blues need to be on the game.
PLAYERS TO LOOK OUT FOR
My three players that I picked for this game are a player that I loved when she was playing for Lewes under former Blues boss Scott Booth in Maria Farrugia, she has always got quality and has already scored four times in the league with a shot accuracy of 56 percent. The second player who I have picked is forward Eva Butler who is a talent scored an impressive sixteen times last season in the Under-21s before coming up to the first team scoring twice and assisting once, And my third player I picked is former Blues player midfielder Connie Scofield someone who always gives her all and quality on the ball and is a great signing for the blades.
LAST TIME WE MET
We played back in October on a Friday nightwhere we earned a hard-fought victory with a Neve Herron flick from a Christie Harrison-Murray corner in the third minute and a Simone Magill Penalty 6 minutes from time when Louise Quinn was brought down in the box got the Blues the three points in a 1-2 win to kick start are season.
WHERE IS THE GAME BEING PLAYED
