CRYSTAL PALACE WOMEN V BLUES WOMEN PREVIEW WSL2 PREVIEW

Blues return back from the international break to face some familiar faces has we travel down south to face recent relegated Crystal Palace when we come up against Blues legends Jo Potter & Remi Allen’s  who’s Palace side found themselves in 8th position in the WSL2 Table.

MATCH PREVIEW

Amy Merricks and her girls in Blue are coming off a brilliant second city derby with Aston Villa drawing 3-3 in the 90 minutes and winning 4-2 on penalties with Adrianna Franch the hero yet again saving penalties from former Blues player Sarah Mayling and goalscorer on the night Lucia Kendel. And it was great to see the fans and the players coming together at the end of the game. Finally Amy has got the team back on track after the disappointing result against Charlton in early November and looking to go three games unbeaten in the league.

For Jo Potters Crystal Palace side are coming  of back to back wins against Ipswich Town and there brilliant  win over Leicester City  beating the foxes 3-0 but ended in a sour note when former Blues player  Ruesha Littlejohn was sent off after grabbing and throwing  Hannah Cain  to the ground and could be out for the majority of the season with the FA’s investigation on going. But on the pitch, it was a professional performance by Jo’s flying eagles with goals from Kirsty Howat opening the scoring before Justine Vanhaevermaet and Annabel Blanchard made it a comfortable afternoon for the eagles who are through to the quarter finals a fantastic achievement for the club. In the league it has been a frustrating time for the players and fans, and I think there is a hangover from getting relegated from the WSL, but I think Jo and Remi will turn it around.

Its is easy to stay but the first goal will be key on Sunday I think it will be a tight game and Blues need to show there quality on and off the ball to get anything out of the game.

PLAYERS TO LOOK OUT FOR

My three players to look out for on Sunday are first Annabel Blanchard a fantastic fan favourite for the eagles who can play along the front line and can play in a ten to and are defence needs to be focused and alert on Sunday.

My second is Scotland international and Forward Kirsty Howat who is the top goalscorer for Palace with four goals and assisting once she also has played for Palace Head Coach Jo Potter before with her time with Rangers scoring 39 times in two seasons with Rangers a great player and has hit the ground running for Palace.

And my third is someone who has hurt us the last time will played Crystal Palace and that is Elise Hughes a strong forward who can hold up player brilliantly and can bang in a goal her best season was in 23/24 scoring 16 times in 21 appearances  and we need to be focused against the Wales International.

LAST TIME WE MET

The last time we met was back in April 24when a Elise Hughes strike on the stroke of half time  got the eagles the win.
