NEWCASTLE UNITED V BLUES WOMEN WSL2 PREVIEW

Blues travel up to the northeast this Wednesday night for are game in hand against Newcastle United Blues are coming of the weekend with a 0-1 win over Simon Parker’s Southampton side but on Wednesday night Blues need to up their game ten times more against Tanya Oxtoby Newcastle United.

MATCH PREVIEW

Like I said Blues Women are coming off a hard-fought battle down at Saint Marry’s on Sunday afternoon with Asato Miyagawa getting the all-important goal to keep Blues in second place with Crystal Palace hot on our trials. Like I said in the Saints blog we weren’t at the races, but we did get the win and at this stage of the season is all that matters. Amy gave a first league start to Hannah Silcock who I thought played well and was comfortable on the ball.

On Newcastle is a must win for them too to close the gap on Crystal Palace to and if there win there will be a point behind the eagles in that third play-off spot. The toon are coming off a 1-1 draw against improving Sheffield United on Saturday night Simone Sherwood’s gave the blades the league but a few minutes later the toon got the equalizer with Emily Murphy who brought it down and fire it pass Sian Rodgers to make it 1-1 and that’s how it finished.

Tanya’s Newcastle side are gathering momentum there have been unbeaten in four and four points of third spot and has got the tools to get promotion this season the only disappointing think for them that there have been drawing a few games against Sheffield United and Ipswich but overall there will be right there with us fighting for promotion.

What I like to see on Wednesday night is a much better tempo compare to Sundays game I also put back in the back line Shannon Cooke with Neve Herron I think that’s are most comfortable centre back pairing also I will take Wilma out of the side and put in Libby Bance for her composure on the ball but we need to start right out of the gates we cant start like against Southampton which was slow at times.

PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR

My first player that I pick is Jordon Nobbs who has scored  four goals and also assisted four times always a quality player on and off the ball and can unlock any defence in this league.

My second is the toons top goalscorer and former Blues player in Emily Murphy who has scored six times and assisted also six times are defence needs to be on there game to keep her quiet.

And my third is another former Blues player who was on loan with us  last season in Ashanti Akpan who has made the trip to the north east on a permeant deal from Chelsea she is always quality and can unlock which we no so well.
