NEWCASTLE WOMEN V BLUES WOMEN PREVIEW

Blues go up to the northeast this Sunday to try and get there second win out of three when their face Becky Langley’s Newcastle United squad who have a had good debut season in the Women’s Championship. To me there where the best side I have seen at StAndrews@Knightheadpark  this season and the best fans that I have seen as well. We need a performance like the away win against London City Lionesses and last week’s performance coming from a goal behind to beat Durham 3-1 to get anything out of the toon army.

MATCH PREVIEW

Blues need to be on their game, and we do not need to have a repeat of their poor showing back in November of blues two nil defeat against the toon. Amy and the girls need to get everything right not just up front but everywhere else everything needs to be picture perfect cause if not Newcastle can hurt any team in the championship just like that and that’s why Becky has done a great job for Newcastle guiding the toon army up to sixth position and in time will get out of the championship there just need on or two quality signings from the championship to help team. Last time out the toon got a hard-earned point at the valley against Charlton with Shania Hayles getting the equalizer from the penalty spot  in the 65th minute.

For the girls in royal blue after a few weeks of from there last game against Charlton and losing there top spot to London City Lionesses who took advantage with there game in hand beating Newcastle and then beating Southampton are in prime position to get out of the Championship but like I said there will be plenty of twists & turns from now to the end of the season lets hope it doesn’t come are way.

Blues last time out got Amy her first win over Durham with a hard fought 3-1 win with a brace for Simone Magill and a debut goal in blue for Emily Van Egmond got us an important first of three wins and also coming from behind which was a great thing to see. Of course, Blues need to win for a final day shoot out with the impressive London City Lionesses back at St Andrews, but this game will be so much important getting are first win over the toon army if not its all over I know Amy and the girls will give everything to get those three points and bring them back to St Andrews but like Amy has said from the beginning of the season its one game at  a time.

PLAYERS TO LOOK OUT FOR

The first I picking is Shania Hayles who has had a brilliant season scoring an impressive 12 goals and assisting one and is second in the goalscoring chart with a goal conversation of 32 percent. The second is Freya Gregory scoring three and assisting one, but it is her all-round play that impresses me and the third is Beth Lumsden scoring seven and assisting two a great season for her.

LAST TIME WE MET

We met back in early November back at St Andrews and it was a disappointing 0-2 loss, and the toon army got the bragging rights with goals from Shania Hayles in the 11th minute and a Isabella Sibley strike twenty minutes from time made it the perfect away day performance  for Becky Langly’s toon army.

BIRMINGHAM WOMEN OSC

I just want to mention the brilliant work the OSC have done this season Stacey & Claire have done a magnificent job of bringing in new supports and like I said it bringing in a new generation of Blues Women’s fans to support the girls in royal blue. Stacey & Claire will be there on the final game of the season against London City Lionesses if you want to talk to them to sign up for the 25/26 season all talk to them about anything else there are a credit to the club.

THE LAST GAME OF THE SEASON

Of course, everybody knows who we are playing but what I like to see even if we don’t have anything to play for is to see a huge crowd in Amy’s first game we broke the blues women’s attendance record with 3,101 against Sheffield United and love to see a similar attendance to finish the season off. Fingers cross it will be a day of celebrations then what ifs. You can buy the tickets in the link below.
