SHEFFIELD UNITED WOMEN VS BIRMINGHAM CITY WOMEN PREVIEW

Who’s up for some Friday night football Blues travel up to Bramell Lane to face Ash Thompson’s Sheffield United side who are still looking for their first win of the season. But in their last home game there did score two goals against recently relegated Bristol City with Eva Butler & Maria Farrugia getting on the score sheet.

It has been a turmoil time for the blade’s fans on and off the pitch losing key players in Isobel Goodwin who has gone down south to the ambitious London City Lionesses . Some former Blues players in Tara Bourne & Fran Stenson have joined Remi Allen’s Southampton side, and another former Blues player in Ashley Hodson announced her retirement in the summer. But there have brought in some quality to help fill in the gaps with Sian Rodgers from Charlton Athletic Maria Farrugia from relegated Lewes & Abbie Lafayette from Watford . Yes, for Sheffield United this season if there stay up it is a magnificent achievement for Ash Thompson and the girls and good luck to them after Friday night.

For Blues it was back to winning ways on Sunday at St Andrews @ Knighthead Park beating Blackburn Rovers 2-0 with a Louise Quinn header in the first and the legend in Christie Harrison-Murray receiving her 100-appearance shirt from Hope Powell before the beginning of the match scoring with a diving header to kill the game off and made it a wonderful day for the Scottish Maestro and you can see what it meant to her a true legend and fully deserve to .

ARE RECORD AGAINST SHEFFIELD UNITED

Blues have a 100 percent record against the blades wining all four games since are relegation from the WSL with some absolutely outstanding goals with two coming to mind Martha Harris thunderbolt last season at the lane which won goal of the season at the players awards. And of course, Lucy Quinn last minute goal of the season wonder strike when we beat United back at St Andrews in October 2022.

PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR

Maria Farrugia is someone I always liked at Lewes always has quality and one of the bright sparks in Lewes relegation from last season.  Also, Eva Butler who has a decent start to the season and will contribute this season I think she can get into double figures this season.
