THE GOLDEN GIRLS BEAT A LACKLUSTER BLUES

Blues were brought back down to earth this afternoon at Grosvenor Vale by a very determined golden girls’ side. They were defiantly up for it after last week’s result over Durham and they fully deserved their win. A double from substitute Michelle Agyemang brought the Blues’ first defeat of 2024 and Darren will not be happy how the goals were conceded . All credit should go to Watford’s gaffer Damon Lathrope and the golden girls who made it back-to-back wins and now a win away from climbing out of the relegation zone and in my predictions at the beginning of the season I had them staying up.

The first chance of the game came for the hosts when Bennett played in Carly Johns, but her shot went over the bar in the second minute.

Blues first chance game in the eighth minute when Blues played Walker in, but her shot was well saved from Middleton-Patel.

Blues were seeing a lot of the ball Lucy Quinn this time with a cross into the box at the back post, but Fuso couldn’t connect with the ball in the 17th minute.

In the 29th minute the Blues had another chance when Ivanna Fuso nodded the ball down for Walker, but her effort was saved from Patel.

The first chance of the second half came for Blues when substitute Jade Moore headed over the bar from a corner in the 47th minute.

The next chance for Blues was in the 53rd when last weeks goal scorer Cho shot went wide just outside of the box.

Blues should had have taken the lead in 55th minute when a deep corner ended up with a goalmouth scramble both efforts from Mason and then Lawley were blocked.

Then in the 73rd minute the hosts took the lead with an instant impact when 18-year-old Michelle Agyemang stole possession and placed it past Lucy Thomas. Blues were pushing for an equaliser and then in the 82nd minute Michelle Agyemang made it 2. She showed her pace and fired it past Lucy thomas.

This week came the golden girls showed the endeavour, passion and commitment that blues showed last week. Damon will be so proud of his team and that’s why I picked them to survive this season. Their experience with Davidson, Bennet and Baptise along with hungry players in Agyemang and Peart will help them survive in the Championship . For Blues it was a disappointing display let’s hope it’s a blip, we can push on and it was one of those days.

I have to go for Michelle Agyemang a brilliant display from her today with her clinical finishing from a substitute .

We are back in the FA Cup when we play WSL Side Leicester City at 12:00 .
