Finally some good news !

After a week of torment let’s start with some great news. Firstly, the top half of the Kop will be open on Saturday and the season ticket holders who have tickets for that area can return to their favourite seats. For all you who have bemoaning the lack of decent seats to purchase on the day now is your chance to get back to a proper football experience. Even better news is the club has taken up my Tilton Talk Show colleague Craig Courtney’s plea for a return of “KIDS FOR A QUID”. Yes, the idea propositioned on last Monday’s show has become reality!

Graham Taylor when he began the first of his spell at that “other place” bemoaned the fact that playing in a half empty stadium made his team feel like failures before they started. My view from main stand is no different from the view I had on TV during lockdown. I can understand Taylor’s feeling as I felt that too and I’m sure our players can empathize. So, no excuses, fill them seats please. No goals in six games? So what? We need you and bring the kids too.

So to the game

Swansea City are Saturday’s visitors who in the last week have defeated great rivals Cardiff in the Derby De Cymru and then did the Baggies four days later. Compared to our shot shy showings against Albion and Huddersfield we are in for a tough afternoon.

Lee Bowyer in the two games tinkered with the defence and got things back in shape and hard to break down. Captain Dean was sacrificed and Sanderson has shown himself an excellent replacement. With the combined age of the other two guardians of the back three at 65 his 21-year-old legs were really needed.

Attacking wise I don’t know where to start. LB singled out Hogan for special praise v Albion yet subbed him before the end and excluded him completely on Wednesday. Deeney not used on Friday got 15 minutes. Jukey’s 32-year-old legs went straight through 160 minutes. The starting line up at Huddersfield only had one goal to its name this season. I don’t get it. I just don’t get it!

I did like McGee’s inclusion in midfield. He was lively and got forward. Chong in a more forward role I like too. Six games without an open play goal is so poor it has to end.  Don’t miss that goal be there or be square. #KRO
