MAGILL AND YURI GAVE BLUES A HARD FOUGHT VICTORY OVER THE SAINTS

A penalty from Simone Magill and a Choe Yuri header got Blues three vital points in a hard-fought game against the saints . The saints had a familiar voice after Remi Allen and saints parted ways a few weeks ago and you can see the improvements from todays, and I think the saints will have a strong end to the season.  Amy made three changes from the win a fortnight ago against Blackburn Rovers. With a debut for Adrianna Franch in goals and also back in the starting eleven for were Emily Van Egmond & Choe Yuri.

FIRST HALF

Before the match started the was a minute’s silence held for tragic death of Poppy Atkinson everyone at The Tilton Talk Show wants to send there condolences to the family at this difficult time.

The first chance of the game was the opening goal for Blues when a ball was played into the box and hit former Blues player Tara Bourne and referee Sophie Dennington pointed to the spot up stepped-up Simone Magill and slot it home pass  Fran Stenson who was going in the opposite direction a great start for the girls in Royal Blue.

The next chance came in the 33rd minute when Yuri did some brilliant work on the flanks and put in a brilliant cross which fell to the feet of Lee, but her shot was deflected wide for a corner.

Two minutes later Blues doubled their lead with some brilliant work from the inform Becks Holloway who put in a brilliant ball down by the byline into the box onto the head Choe Yuri to make it 2-0 for the girls in royal blue.

But three minutes later the saints got a goal back with a well worked play which was well finished by Chloe Peplow.

In the 43rd minute Emily Van Egmond shot was deflected out for a corner.

And the last chance of the half came for Blues was when Shannon Cooke wanted to replicate her amazing strike against Sheffield United but this time it was easily saved from Stenson.

In the 57th Blues fought there restored there two goal lead when some great play from yet again Becks Holloway who finds Lee Geum-Min and Simone fought she had her brace but the assistant referee Folu Aladelusi raised his flag for offside.

The next chance of the game was for Yuri whose shot was easily saved from Fran Stenson in the 63rd minute.

The last chance of the game came for Blues some great interchanging passing from Simonne and Ivanna but yet again the final pass into Yuri was intercepted.

MY THOUGHTS ON THE GAME

Another disciplined and outstanding display from Amy and the girls but what I like was her post match interview that she wants more from the team and be ruthless in front of goal we had a number of chances to kill the game off but are final ball doesn’t come I think that is something the team can improve on. But it was a brilliant display with everything you won’t being a bluenose guts git determination and also quality which we did not have had in other seasons, but I don’t think there had the mentality but now under Amy everyone is playing for the badge committed and performing what we knew what these team can do and it’s a pleasure to watch. Yes, we got some tough games coming up especially next week against are bogey side in Charlton Athletic which we only got a point from since are relegation from the WSL, so hopefully next week we can get a first win against the Addick’s but under Karen Hills it’s not going who also are looking to get promoted  themselves.

MY PLAYER OF THE MATCH

I have to go for two players one is Martha Harris who was outstanding and brilliant to see her coming back from her injury and looking better than ever. And another one person who deserves the player of the match is Rebecca Holloway who is playing her best football in a Blues shirt which is great to see she always a fan favourite and coming back to Blues she looks like a new player and i think she could be an outsider for player of the season .
