Former Bluenoses Sarah Ewen & Jamie Lee Napier come back to haunt a blues side who looked tired, the player of the match SHANADE HOPCROFT put in a performance that she will remember in a long time scoring a hat trick, her first was a beauty. Blues are now 9 points behind Bristol City, and they have got a game in hand after today’s game against Lewes was called off. Questions need to be asked as to why we are conceding cheap goals especially the second one. There was one positive Siobhan Wilson gave a good account never giving up trying to make something happen but never less it was a poor performance from Blues.

First Half

Former Bluenose Jamie Lee Napier had the first chance for London City which seen her shot saved from Lucy Thomas in the second minute. Then in the 10th minute another former bluenose Sarah Ewens had her shot saved comfortable from Thomas.

Blues first chance came in for the starting Lucy Quinn after her great strike last week against Sheffield United but this time it went over the bar in the 22nd minute. Then the breakthrough came from London from my player of the match from Shanade Hopcroft with a quite brilliant free kick that Lucy Thomas can do nothing about it in the 23rd minute. Blues straight away come back into with Christie Murray shot just went wide.

In the 30th minute Blues got the equaliser when a free kick was header in from Louise Quinn 1-1. London City were getting back into the game following a corner Lucy Thomas made a great save from close to keep it 1-1.

But yet again another blues defence was broken in the in the 34th minute yet gain another free kick and yet again Shanade Hopcroft was the scorer with a dangerous ball that went all the way through to make it 2-1 in the 34th minute. Blues yet again reacted well with a corner, but it was easily saved from Jessica Shae Yáñez Couey. Then in the 42nd minute Louise Quinn’s header was also saved from Couey.

Then blues could have equalised in the 44th minute when Libby shot was saved from Couey but Wilson was offside.

HALF TIME LONDON CITY LIONESSES  2- 1 BLUES

We had to wait to the 53rd minute when Louise Quinn diving header was saved from Couey. Then a penalty for London City when Lucy Quinn brought down a London City player and the referee pointed to the sport up stepped Shanade Hopcroft and placed it past Lucy Thomas to make 3-1.

Blues were all over the place and the passing was out of sorts. London City were bullying Blues you think it should be another way round with the experience we had in the squad. London City almost made it 4-1 when hitting the post in the 80th minute. Blues got one more from Louise Quinn but in my opinion did not deserve anything out of this game.

AFTER THOUGHTS

This has been the worst I seen played this season I would have played Ashley Hodson from the start, but I heard she was unwell. I have to give credit to London City Lionesses and give credit to their head coach Melissia Phillips she has done a wonderful job taking them to second in the Championship. How they play and how they defend is great they are working for each other which is something we can learn from.

PLAYER OF THE MATCH

Only one person Shanade Hopcroft a fantastic performance from her that first goal was a gem.
