A trio of wins and sky get it right.
How Do you boys in Blue. If you are anything like me you have been so far over the moon this week that I may have bumped my head on Mars. Swansea 3 Blues 4. Wow that still sounds good. Of course if you are Jeff Stelling and reading this it may be the first time that you have got the score the right way round.
Now that we have all settled down, at the time of writing we are about 3 hours from Kick off and the real serious business starts again. The Baggies are on a hot streak after sacking old Brucie with them staring down the barrel of League One. The 3-2 spanking we gave them at the Hawthorns in the Autumn was the last nail in the coffin of our old gaffer. Sorry Steve but the number of payoffs you have received in your managerial career probably you aren’t in need of Foodbanks just yet. Also we managed to get £2m in compensation from Wigan when we outed you. Sorry. when you left on mutual agreement. Karen Brady even got you to pay some of your Salary back!
A Win tonight would mean 3 in a row. That would be very rare against our Tipton Chums and maybe we would get to keep them!
My first ever League game in 1961 was against the Baggies with around 40,000 at St Andrews. I, having reached 10 years old were considered big enough to see the game and cope with the large numbers. Problem in those days was not getting in but getting out. The Tunnel from the Cattell Road exit was so tight that I was able to lift myself up and be carried along by the crowd.
Albion’s three previous visits to St Andrews had ended in them victorious. 5-3, 6-2 and 7-1. Till this day they have still have more wins at St Andrews against us than we do against them. With the world waiting for the Blues to concede 8 Blues basically smashed them. Jock Wallace, Don Howe, Bobby Robson, Derek Kevan and Ronnie Allen all internationals were beaten 3-1. Being 10 years old I was sure that this was the way it always was. I soon woke up to reality!
Tonight’s fixture is of epic proportions to both teams. Albion have risen almost from the grave to the play-off places. We, after last week’s miracle in Wales are hoping that we can have a similar rise. The most significant thing about last week was the return to form of our most gifted players. Chong. Hannibal and new signing Longelo were really at it. Probably for the first time in 2 months.
Hopefully the only the only thing that reaches the World’s Mediatonight are the happenings on the pitch.
Anyway, look out for ‘Watto’s Weekly Live’ on You Tube and Facebook.
God Bless you all
