No tv, no streams but radio and a deadline day signing

Short, not so sweet in this week’s offering. Tuesday saw our FA cup dreams die for the 148th year in succession. After an encouraging display at a cold and windy Ewood Park Blues fans were hoping, if not expecting, that new spirit, founded on new signing Reda Khadra would bear fruit. With the Club unable to open the whole ground or even broadcast the match on their own TV channel the whole occasion was a damp squid.

No where on the planet was that game being relayed, BBC and ITV ignored it and for some reason it was played a week early. Whose idea was that? We were left with the voice commentary on BBC Radio WM. WM although based in Birmingham is rather Black Country biased. The two commentators projected a far from interested feel to the proceedings and with their irrelevant tittle tattle through the 120+ minutes failed to describe the only goal of the game. Starting sentences with “I’m not sure………” is always a clue that they would rather be elsewhere.

Trusty, for those who maybe interested put through his own goal to send Rovers through. So, no £200,000 prize money or share of a full house at Leicester or TV rights. Never mind its only money. We have new investors on the way.

Those who were in the “we don’t need Troy Deeney corner” were sadly proven wrong. He facilitates the scoring of goals. Not enough admittedly but 70% of our goals include Troy’s input. No goals no win, it’s a simple equation. 

Anything good to report? Well new investors remain as mysterious as ever. Finally in the last throes of the nauseating Transfer deadline day we solve our 6 loanee problem by giving Manny Longelo a permanent deal. Of the six he wouldn’t have been my first choice but it solves a problem which has meant not putting out our best eleven players on the field. 

In time honoured fashion Sky did not report the move which apparently left West Ham fans “furious”,” shocked” and “angry”.

More piffle from the London press as I live in the south where no one had ever heard of Manny or if they did were surprised he was on loan at Blues. For Birmingham City it was a tidy little deal for a Premier League experienced player for £400,000.

So to Saturday, and back over the Welsh border to play Swansea. Troy won’t be available, but Craig Gardner will. The old boy adds a genuine spark to our midfield. We are out of the dreaded January and with the smell of spring just around the corner, Blues must go round that corner and restart the points collection. Don’t lets hear the broken record of “Well, disappointed with the result but can’t fault the effort. There’s a great spirit in the group” Sound familiar?

Maybe a few home truths with a punch up on the training ground Friday morning as they get stuck into it?
