After last week’s rant and questioning some of the character of certain members of the team, the Swansea performance was most satisfactory. Sure, Blues had more opportunities given than Hughie Green but there was no lack of desire or character.
(Readers under 60 may have to Google Hughie Green but trust me he was a provider of opportunities)
A point away from home and a clean sheet can guarantee to put a smile on the face of beleaguered manager Lee Bowyer and yours truly.
I hate international breaks. They are not necessary and in the current international climate, bad taste. Hungary v Serbia catches the eye. Let’s play football while our neighbours and deadliest enemies bomb the life out of each other.
Were I the ‘Chairman’ of Uefa and FIFA I would ensure the season ran between 2nd week of August and 2nd week of May. Domestic competitions and Euro titles done and dusted and International Tournaments take over. No club v country debate, no cry offs through ‘mystery’ injuries.
As for this week-end I wont watch England unless Bellingham plays. Unless I see at least one player in those white shirts who is fit to lace his boots well what’s the point?
International weeks for me are the Non-League weeks. Those of you anywhere near the West Midlands are fortunate to have many top sides within a short trip. Solihull Borough are at Woking but Kidder and Gloucester have tasty fixtures.
In Sussex you have to go a long way to see that quality, so I shall be indulging myself at Bexhill United where hopefully the Pirates can shove it up Broadridge Heath and secure a playoff spot.
